In March 2010, the Mauritius National Assembly passed the Energy Efficiency Bill. Section 19 of the Act proclaimed in January 2013 specifies the requirements regarding energy audits and associated energy auditors. The Act spells out the potential requirements for carrying out energy audits performed by certified Energy Auditors.
The Mauritian Legislation will be mostly applicable to large energy consumers. The export companies are among the largest consumer of energy.
In view of preparing for the implementation of the Mauritian Legislation on Energy Efficiency, MEXA is embarking on a project of Energy Audits for export companies. The first step will be the training process.
