EEG undertook a first energy audit in 2012 and an updated one in 2017 showcasing the road map for improvements in energy efficiency in both. Currently, EEG is undertaking the full lighting retrofit of the resort by changing about 8000 fixtures/bulbs to LED , leading to annual electricity savings in excess of 320,000KWh and a payback period of about 1 year.
The project tackles the full areas including the Front and Back of the House along with dimmable and non dimmable fixtures.
In a similar project, EEG is currently retrofitting also the full Back of the House lighting of the landmark Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
The iconic urban property has a gross floor area of 53,948 m2 in a man made island and includes a tower of approximately 210 meters high equivalent to 68 levels with a total of 273 guest rooms, 7 restaurants and lounges, 5 pools, 17 treatment rooms’ SPA and function areas with a total area of 3272m2
In 2016, EEG undertook the energy audit to the property and assisted them in optimizing the district cooling operation and related cost, it is now retrofitting all the Back of the House lighting with a total of about 8700 fluorescent lighting to be replaced by new LED fixtures or tubes.
The total annual electricity savings will be in excess of 631,000 KWh and a payback period of 2 years.
