EEG conducts an Energy, Water and Carbon Audit for both Four Seasons Resorts in the Maldives

EEG - Energy Efficiency Group was commissioned to conduct an Energy, Water, and Carbon audit for both Four Seasons resorts in the Maldives, aligning with the luxury hospitality company's commitment to environmental best practices.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is a luxurious retreat nestled on a private island in the Maldives, spanning an area of approximately 32,746 m2. The resort showcases 96 individual villas, thoughtfully placed along the pristine beachfront or above the glistening waters. Each villa offers a private pool and embraces the Maldivian heritage with elements like high ceilings, thatched roofs, and wooden furnishings. The resort's expansive Back of House area includes essential facilities like the power generation plant, water production plant, and sewage treatment facilities, all seamlessly integrated to promote sustainability and eco-friendliness. Furthermore, the resort provides on-site staff accommodations, consisting of multiple buildings.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is an exclusive haven located on a remote and unspoiled island in the Baa Atoll UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, encompassing an impressive 180,000m2. Boasting 103 beach and overwater villas, ranging from 68 m2 to 1,200 m2, each featuring a lavish pool. The design flawlessly blends modern luxury with authentic Maldivian elements, harmonizing with the natural surroundings. As with Kuda Huraa, the resort's Back of House comprises a power generation plant, water production plant, sewage treatment facilities, and expansive staff accommodations buildings. A remarkable standout is the resort's Renewable Energy PV Plant, boasting an impressive capacity of 838KWp.

Both resorts prioritize sustainability and conservation through pioneering marine and land-based research initiatives, positioning them as leaders in responsible tourism. The Marine Discovery Centers in both resorts have been running some of the Indian Ocean’s most pioneering conservation projects in the areas of coral reef restoration, sea turtle rehabilitation, manta ray protection, fish breeding, and more—each with an interactive element to inspire guests and locals (through community outreach programs) to participate in the preservation of the Maldives' delicate ecosystem.

Following all the procedures of the audits, EEG submitted the comprehensive reports by the end of Q1, 2023.
