Set on a stretch of powder white sand, the Jumeirah at al Saadiyat island is a five-star resort located at the Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi; the hotel which started operation in December 2018 has a distinctive exterior design with breezy and nautical interiors and features a total of 285 rooms and 12 villas spread over a total built-up area of about 101,000 m2. The resort consists of four buildings connected by a central facilities area and includes an expansive functions area, a 15 treatment rooms’ wellness center, a standalone fitness center, and a total of six F&B outlets as well as a total of 19 Pools with a maintained temperature annually
The resort places high value on sustainability with a plastic-free approach across guest rooms and with energy-efficient design including its architecture that reduces heat gains across guest rooms, its 100% LED lights with dimming functions across the areas, Thermodynamic Heat Pumps for hot water production – complemented by gas boilers, and Heat Pumps for the pools’ cooling/heating. In addition, the property has a comprehensive BMS, a GRMS, and a well-developed Energy Metering System/Platform. It is to be noted that the cooling is provided to the resort through a connection to the local District Cooling plant.
EEG has been chosen to complete an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit and provide a comprehensive assessment of the various energy performances of the infrastructure and operations. The project was completed between the month of March and May 2022 and was completed with close cooperation with the engineering department of the property. It led to a road map of Energy Efficiency Measures including a total of 12 actions with a total potential of 11% reductions in electricity consumption, 22% in District Cooling, and 23% in Gas,
