Four Seasons Hotel Damascus has been known since its opening in 2006 as the landmark Hotel property in Syria’s capital. The property includes a total of 297 rooms with 5 outlets and expansive meeting and ballroom facilities on a total built up surface of more than 28,500m2 .
Despite the difficult times that the country is through, the property has always been striving to maintain its highest level of services and optimize its operation.
It is in this background that EEG completed an energy audit to the property in Q3 2015 whereby a large number of Energy Efficiency Measures were detailed and many went into implementation directly by the hotel’s engineering department.
One key measure that was pursued through EEG is the complete lighting retrofit of the full premises including both all the grounds in the Front and Back of the House. The project is currently being installed and will be completed by year end with a projected annual energy savings of 1.8MWh and a payback period below 2 years.
The challenge in the project was to integrate the new LED lightings (bulbs or fixtures) into the property’s dimming system across all areas including guest rooms and to maintain the adequate light levels and atmosphere.
With EEG’s long experience in retrofitting large Hotel properties, every lighting type was successfully tested with full compatibility with the existing infrastructure.
