- ICRC project (2021-2022) : RHUH Energy Audit and Environmental Transition Study
- Project background: The Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) is a public independent establishment under the custody of the Ministry of Public Health. With a capacity of 430 beds, it is the largest public hospital in Lebanon and offers medical services to all, with a mandate to admit every life-threatening case. The objective of this energy audit can be formulated as an in-depth study of the hospital infrastructures, installations, and equipment aiming at improving the energy efficiency and associated running costs of RHUH. This study was done in consideration of the performance of the hospital in terms of access to quality health services.It explored how the RHUH can come within the scope of sustainable energy management and environmental transition.
The study stood for an analysis and decision-making tool with the development of practical solutions deemed relevant.
As energy remains one of the cornerstones for the smooth running of the facility, this study aimed at providing the ICRC and RHUH management with avenues to address energy sustainability and environmental transition, to eventually:
- Improve the resilience of the hospital in terms of power sources, alternatives, and redundancy;
- Reduce energy-associated expenditures, with the identification of energy-saving measures;
- Recommend managerial and behavioral practices having an impact on energy consumption;
- Improve the hospital's environmental impact and carbon footprint - Mandate: EEG completed thoroughly this project with all the deliverables
